A Registered Dietitian and lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics, with special interest in pre-conception, pregnancy and lactation, at the University of Surrey
As well as lecturing on the nutritional needs or pregnant and breastfeeding women and the role of nutrition in fertility (at undergraduate and postgraduate) level Kath is an active researcher in the field. She is part of the ‘PADOS’ team at the University of Surrey (Pregnancy after Diabetes Obesity Surgery), which includes dietitians, midwives, psychologists, clinicians and diabetologists. The team is interested in all aspects of pregnancy after bariatric surgery but in particular the ‘fitness for pregnancy’ and pregnancy success of post-surgical patients relative to both obese and weight matched controls.
Current projects are investigating the prevalence and management of pregnancy after bariatric surgery (BS) in the UK and the beliefs and opinions of key stakeholders, including the patients themselves, about the role and application of surgery in obese women of childbearing age.
